In March, the 'round carpet' Primary group discussion, known as the Yellow Circle, gave lessons in conflict resolution. In a spontaneous follow-up discussion concerning the meaning of peace, each child was asked what made them feel peaceful. It was decided that each Room (both Elementary and Primary) would incorporate a Peace Corner of their own. The inspiration for this corner is a pebble, called a Peace Stone, which is placed in a small decorative container for keeping. According to this newly acquired practice, when two (or more) students are having difficulties reaching an agreement to an unresolved problem, all involved will go to this Peace Corner to initiate a contained conversation amongst themselves, which may or may not include a mediator. Once there, the student who holds this Peace Stone will speak his or her 'peace' in an effort for resolution. After this student has offered his/her view, the stone is then handed to the next person so he/she can speak his/her peace (and so on) until everyone in the corner has heard and can agree with both (or all) sides of the conflict. The purpose for this meeting is to enable a better understanding of the problem at hand and to find the most appropriate course of action for resolution when an agreement is reached. ![]() ![]() (Lower Elementary News) ![]() ![]() The Upper Elementary pride themselves in creating and planning fundraisers to help the school do fun things. One week they made and sold chocolate bunnies, another week they made and sold lollipops! You never know what great idea is coming next!! ![]() ATTENTION ALL FAMILIES:
Contact Sayre Montessori School! ![]() REVIEW FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER: We make sure everyone to explain Sayre’s policy during inclement weather. So let's review: 1) Sayre will cancel school if WDM cancels school. We will call WHO TV 13 to have our name put on the school closing list. You will also receive a phone call from a teacher informing you of the closure. 2) Sayre does NOT follow WDM for school delays or early dismissals. If for any reason Sayre would delay or dismiss early, you will receive a phone call from the school informing you of the decision. 3) It is to your own discretion as to whether or not you feel it is safe for you to drive your child to school during inclement weather when you find the school to be open as scheduled. In the unlikely event that we have not cancelled or delayed school and yet you do not feel it is safe for your child, please do not hesitate to make that judgement or feel required to bring your child to school. Do, however, be courteous and let us know of your decision. SAYRE NEWS * CURRICULUM * CALENDAR * FORMS * GET INFO * CONTACT US Page Last Updated 05-29-06 |
