How does search engine optimization work

Search engine optimization is both a skill and the art of having the ability to look at a website, diagnose problems, correct those problems, and then take full advantage of being able to rank it within the search engines. Of course this is much easier said than done and many people believe that they are search engine optimization experts when they can more easily be classified as mediocre enthusiasts. Is very rare to find an individual who is truly skilled a search engine optimization and when you do find an individual that has the ability to move your site within the serps you can pay a pretty penny to have their services rendered for your business. One of the main reasons why their services can be so expensive is largely due to the fact that the ROI you receive the services that they provide will be substantial. I’ve seen many times over and I personally know individuals who have helped businesses become more profitable and in some cases stop them from permanently closing their doors. One example of this is a roofing company. This individual was having an extremely hard time generating new clients to help keep the roofing business stable and operational. With the help of one of my very close search engine optimization expert friends they were able to go from a company that was on the verge of failure to a company that has made over $1 million in profit merely eight months after beginning their search engine optimization journey. So how does search engine optimization really work, you might be asking? It’s simple, it all begins with the website. Depending on the size of the website and the age of the website search engine optimization will be very different and this is one of the first things that anyone attempting to do search engine optimization for their own site needs to take into consideration. For example if your site is older than generally it will be more trusted within the search engine in comparison to a site that is relatively new. This is largely due to the fact that only a few years ago you could simply spam a new website with hundreds and even thousands of links and easily push it up to the top of the search engines virtually overnight. The search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing have all realized that this is not a good thing. Largely due to the fact that anyone can simply rank any site about any topic and it does not have to be valid or factual in order for people to read the content on that site and believe that because it is at the top of the search engines that it is true. This is why they have stopped allowing sites to take advantage of things like this and have put in place a sandbox for new sites.

Once you have determined the age and the amount of links pointing to a site you will then want to make sure that you have proper on page content for the words you are attempting to rank for. For example if you are attempting to rank for the keyword red apples then you will want to make sure that you have the word red apples on your page or is the search engines will not know that your pages about red apples thus meaning they will not know that you are attempting to rank for that word. One of the biggest things to keep in mind in regards to search engine optimization is the fact that the search engines are simply robots. All they can do is read the information that you provide them and make their decision solely based off that. They cannot think for themselves thus you need to lay out everything you want them to do in a very easy and clear-cut form by following the web standards put in place so that they can easily and effectively rank you for the keywords you are attempting to rank for. These are just a few of the many aspects that come into play when attempting to administer search engine optimization for a website. There are countless sources in which you can find very valuable information but remember, you can lie on the Internet, and you must take everything you read with a grain of salt unless it has valid references behind it and you also must use common sense whenever applicable.

Is it important to have proper security on your websites

This is one of the most frequently asked questions from people who are just coming in to search engine optimization. One of the things you need to keep in the back of your mind when building websites is the fact that people out there get enjoyment from conquering the challenge of hacking into somebody else’s website. Once somebody hacked into your website it is not hard for you to get rid of that individual but it is difficult to re-create the content in which you have on the site prior to them hacking it. One of the most common reoccurring themes when people are hacking it is that they will be from Asian origin. This means that they will put things on your site that are in different languages which you will not be able to easily translate unless you use something like Google translate. But this can be a very time-consuming and tedious process and it is easier just to delete all of the content by going into your file manager within your control panel and deleting all the files that are associated to the hacking. While the individual will be able to hack the site itself they will not be able to get into your control panel and change anything and if they do you can easily contact your hosting provider and have them get rid of all the content in which the hacker put on your site.

If you are building out sites for a private blog network and I highly recommend that you use WordPress as your content management system otherwise known as CMS. The reason why I recommend you use WordPress as your content management system is largely due to the fact that they allow you to have plug-ins that are free of charge and allow you to maintain the content as well as create backups of the content so if you are hack you can easily just restore the files back into your file manager within your control panel and you will not have to rebuild the website from scratch. There are plug-ins for example such as word fence, or I themes that both protect your site from hackers by blocking various IP’s from people who are attempting to break into your site as well as send you email backups once every few days of the content in which your site currently has on it. The only thing that becomes annoying is that once you have a large number of sites within your private blog network with these plug-ins put on them you will receive hundreds of emails a day which are them making you aware of database backups and people attempting to hack into your site. Of course this isn’t a bad thing that they are consistently warning you and informing you of the things that are happening with your sites but it does become a very tedious process to go through these emails and view each of them.

In the end of the day the tolerance in which you have varies from person to person and if you are not concerned with your sites being hacked then you have nothing to worry about in the grand scheme of things. But if you are like me and you like to protect the investment you are making in your company then site protection is one of the most important things you can do in regards to protecting the assets in which you build for your personal business. One of the biggest things that you need to remember is that if you use WordPress as your content management system than protecting your sites is completely free of charge by the use of these free plug-ins that they offer and as long as you are willing to deal with the constant email bombardment that you will receive from these plug-ins you can also upload your website to Search Console which is owned by Google, it is more than worth its weight in gold because when the time comes that you need to restore your site because someone has hacked into it all of the time spent going through these various emails will be more than worth it and you will not regret having them installed in your site for even a moment.
